In the latest General trace the disk I/O spikes for a relatively short period of time. these I/O correspond to a hard fault, meaning that the a process data require to be loaded from disk to memory.

Attachment 158978Also if I'm reffering to the Disk usage table, I see that the read operation handles 267 Mb in 82s ! it's equal to a transfert rate of 3 Mb /s. is this a normal rate for a 5400 RPM disk !What I also noticed is that when I zoom in the regions with a high disk I/O, there is large movement of disk's heads going back and forth from one exteremity to the other (See Disk Offset);Attachment 158979
Try to do a disk defragmentation; Also check if the prefetecher is enabled, in the services look for Superfetch service.
Also your bios version is from 2014. there is a newer version in the Lenovo website.

I think it's time to change your disk :)
1-I have superfetch and prefetch disabled2-Can you show me how to do a disk defragmentation
3-What exactly is that BIOS version
4-Do you think my disk is damaged?

Optimize and Defrag Drives in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

(Often worth searching the Tutorial section)

Note under Option 1, 4- before doing any defragging, please capture a screenshot of the fragmentation state.
Windows should routinely attend to defragmentation, so ought not to be an issue, if so.

Hard disk sentinel indicated not.. assuming we're talking about the right disk.

Ideally you would test the disk in a separate known good environment - e.g. in a USB enclosure connected to a different PC. Then you're left with your laptop's hardware + Windows.

You could potentially eliminate Windows by booting from a different boot disk. If you can show that your hardware is good, that leaves something related to Windows.

Then Enable the superfetch service. it can really improve mechanical disk I/O performance by caching data in memory.

Go to the service manager and enable Superfetch to start automatically. Then you have to restart your system at least 5 times so that the prefetcher will be effective.

Glad you found a way to improve things.

What worries me is there have been several threads with this symptom, and it's obviously one that goes way back in history- and I've not yet seen one clear definitive cause or solution.

For example, sometimes people have found using a high performance power plan has helped. Obscure.
