Heres the results trasnfering to a USB from HDD

Seems pretty normal to me, looks like reading is causing the high usage problem to occur.

I will try safe boot or Kyhi's Boot when i have the time and get back to you with the results in the future.

    Thanks!

Hi! Basically my laptop running on windows 10 is experiencing 100% disk usage at idle.
I have tried to use resource monitor to find the culprit. Heres what it shows:

Basically it shows that System is causing high disk usage. However at times, resource monitor also showed that svchost.exe is causing high disk usage.

I have tried stopping the DiagTrack service in the services.msc, it did improve the performance of the computer as the computer was less laggy. However, disk usage still remains high at 100% with occasional decrease to 90%.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? I have searched on forums online for solutions to this problem however none of it seems to be working.

    Thanks for ya help!
Hi ... I've a nephew who can be a little mischievous & ignorant @the same time..using an Android root app he somehow hacked from the guest acct creating a service administrator account using a Windows 10 China version within this apk.. Hi dalchina! I did a safe boot usb transfer onto my hdd, here's the results:

seems like what u said is true writing doesn't seems to be the problem, as the computer is able to transfer data at 46mb/s on safe boot. However, reading such as opening applications is causing the disk usage to be high at low transfer rate. Any ideas on what could be the cause for this?

    Thank You!

If it were a desktop I'd suggest swapping the slot/cable...

One thing more you could try is to put that disk in a caddy, and connect it as a USB disk on a different computer, or perhaps on yours booted from Kyhi's boot disk.
If writing to it and reading from it is then ok, it's not the disk hardware, buffer or interface.
That leaves your computer's hardware, or a driver issue.

If it's a driver- and thinking back to when this started, it could be worth trying it with the previous Windows build.

There are lots of posts on this issue: many just guesswork
