Windows 10 gets full disk usage every time the screen is turned off

    Here is mine

    actually I just use Photo app sometimes. Here is the screenshot before and after the screen is turned off

    Ok, that's fair, I guess.

    Photos: the point is it's not when you launch the app and do sthg with it, it's the background album indexing it does if you configure it to do that that makes me wonder if that's why you're seeing so many instances of it.

    And is that what you see every time you see high disk usage?


    That appears to be a defrag task.. Drive E:

    Have you checked drive E - and any others- with Hard Disk sentinel?

    I'm not sure about the Photo app, I just use it to open photos, not usually, but I also see VideoUI.exe recently.
    Though many things load after the screen is turned on again, the HDD LED doesn't bright and blink so much, but it's still higher frequency than when the screen is always turned on.

    If it's defrag task, it's okay for an acceptable explain.
    I don't know about Sentinel, I just open, short test, and have this.

    Ok, so you've just the one disk. That screenshot shows lowish disk usage anyway, so you need to check the cause on other occasions.

    If you wished, you could even try uninstalling Photos... (Tutorial applies)
