I would get the 1600 if you can that is pretty much the sweet spot for all ryzen builds it will help you do Content work and Gaming without breaking your wallet i own a 1600x and it is pretty good as in gaming and processing power

A new CPU requires a clean install and then the correct chipset driver installation along with the rest of the mobo drivers.

Ablao, are you changing the motherboard as well as the CPU? If you are using the same motherboard, you don't need to do a clean install.

Are the games you downloaded from Steam or somewhere else?

The Chipset drivers are from the board manufacturer (MSI) and are the same no matter which CPU you have. You should be OK there.

If you can go into your Steam folder and copy the Steamapps folder and paste it somewhere else for safekeeping, it should contain all of your games. Origin games are usually in Program Files X86 under Origin Games. Do the same with the Origin Games Folder. That should save your downloads.
