System Tunup Prior to Fall Creators Update

    Hi All

System Tuneup prior to Fall Creators update, then again I may just do a clean install, not sure yet

    Windows 10 Pro x64 15063.540
    AMD FX 8310 8 Core
    Radeon R7 240 video card
    Avast Free Antivirus
    Malwarebytes3

Mainly want the best performance and system functioning properly, currently with Avast in, Movies & TV app just displays black when I try to play a purchased movie or tv show, so may do a clean install of Fall Creators update and fix that when the update is released

My daily activites consist of Secondlife gaming, other games, browsing a few sites a day, cnn, local news, dslreports, neowin.net, and such sites, nothing really bad sites at all

Thank everyone for there time in advance, working on cleaning up download folder today and music and videos while waiting for replies on that topic

Uninstall third party antivirus, malware and firewall programs. That's where I would start.

Yeah started on that this morning, cleaned up some downloaded files, backed up music, ran sfc /scannow after 3rd party antivirus uninstall, and then ran dism cleanup command--no issues found on either of those.

So think tuned up as best can be now til Fall Creators update release date, was tempted to do a full system reset, but determined that would've taken a while to get everything back in order, so decided to wait on that at this point

I'd suggest going through and disabling unnecessary startup programs.

A great tool for this is: Autoruns for Windows - Windows Sysinternals | Microsoft Docs

Launch it -> Options -> Scan Options... -> Enable "Verify code signatures" and "Check VirusTotal.com"

Then go to Options -> Hide Microsoft Entries.

Now look through the "Logon" tab for programs that you do not want to automatically startup and un-check them. If you later find out you want to re-enable them, simply launch Autoruns and re-check the box. Also look for anything that has a decent amount of Virus Total detentions as that may indicate malware.

Will Do that as well, and take care of that as well

Autoruns reports a lot of missing files may have to do a clean install sooner than I plan to

You are not missing anything, Autoruns is unable to upload those files to VT. Missing files would be yellow.

Ok Still Black Screen when I try to Play a Video with Windows Movie & Tv App

App Trouble shooter shows the following

Windows Store Cache Fixed states, (so maybe after a restart Movies & Tv will work right finally lol)

(might still have leftovers of Avast in, but Avast clear hopefully got most of it, did remove one folder manually from Programdata Avast Software, otherwise not seeing anymore

System Performance seems a ton better

Am planning a Clean install to fully clean it up when Fall Creators update comes out, (minimizing writes on my SSD so figure i'll just do the clean install then, and have PC perfect)
