Hello after a long time,
I have tried to disable windows updates by trying Option 1, however I only have windows home edition so that didn't work out.
Tried the Winaero tweaker and didn't work either, it's still going crazy.
I'm starting to feel as if reinstalling windows would be my best bet at this point.
what do you think?
Hi, option 2 of the same tutorial does the same using a reg file. However, you don't want to live with Windows updates disabled.
I can't recall if you've tried creating another user for test purposes- if that user account works, it's some configuration issue in your current user account, rather than Windows.
Note that the next new major build is coming out in October, but that's rather a long time to wait.
If the new user idea doesn't help, you could try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all programs and data - you basically use the base iso (build .0) of your current build - Creator's if Creator's etc- and when booted normally, run setup.exe. You can mount the iso or create a bootable medium and use that - which is what I prefer to do.
Otherwise, make sure you have a full backup and clean install.
The key to almost always having a second chance to recover from difficult situations is to routinely use disk imaging - a 3rd party program such as Macrium reflect (free). You can then recover your PC/disk/partition/Windows to a previously working state without technical help. Any data on the recovered disk would of course be that as of the date the image was created- that's why I keep my personal data off C:.

It's been a long time since, but as you mentioned the October major build did indeed fix it.
It's wonderful I don't need to worry about that issue anymore
