Windows 10 probably corruption sfc /scannow taking hours

    HP 15-an050 - Windows 10 build 14393.rs1_release 161220_1747

Am experiencing alot of different issues so assume corruption.
    1) wi-fi (wireless) wont connect - all other laptops I have are fine
    2) cannot add new user - get "something went wrong"
    3) microsoft security client error code - 0x80070057
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth fails 0x8009001d

Tried to use HP recovery manager - but got error re: cant open file X:/sources/recovery/Tools/HP/Rita-tool

Am now trying to run sfc /scannow in Safe Mode - only at 14% and has been running for almost 2 hours.

Any other suggestions - this is fairly new - and i dont have much on it - just wouldnt want to lose apps installed at factory.

Hi karst. Welcome to the TenForums @karst

Being new it is likely under warranty. If it is under warranty you can likely get them to send a set of recovery disks for free. Look up their CDN support number and gentle prod them in the right direction.

SFC can take some time but I would first rule out that you are not experiencing a disk error.

    command prompt(admim)

    chkdsk

with no options or switches just to get a report.

There is a process call an in place repair / upgrade. Here is the tutorial. This will take you from the installed version of Windows 10 to the Creator's Update, V1703.

    Read the warnings in tutorial.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
