To delete the windows.old folder you need to run Disk cleanup, click Clean up system files, and check the box for windows.old or previous Windows installations, click OK and it should be gone. Trying to delete it any other way may cause problems.

    Good luck.

Judging from the info there on folder size and folders contained, it looks like you tried to manually delete the folder. Wrong move. It needed to be removed as I posted.

See if this tutorial will help you remove the rest of those items - Delete Windows.old Folder in Windows 10 Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials

Some times windows.old is not completely removed on first pass, reboot and another pass may be required.

Kind of hard to believe the OP hasn't tried that. And it really only does take one pass to delete the files going through Disk Cleanup as stated in the tutorial. If you go through the "Johnny on the internet says do it the non MS way" you'll run into issues.

Few times in the past I had to do it from Linux.

    OK.

And since we're posting experience - I've never had issues with it going through Disk Cleanup. And I've been doing it that way since 7, 8, and now 10. Maybe I'm lucky.

Anyway getting back on the thread track - still can't get rid of my 741mb Temp Internet files!
