I agree with Mike. Try this at admin cmd prompt. Don't have any browsers open. Check off everything. It's similar to Disk Cleanup, but seems to go deeper. It's mostly silent, so wait for all the taskbar flashing icons to stop before closing command prompt.

    %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

I ran the command then I ran Disk Cleanup as Admin again and it still shows over 2GB of Temporary Internet files. I don't think they are really there. I think it is a bug.

I have 2 PCs with win 10 Pro on both. One has 330 MB in Internet temporary files, The other has 5.09 GB. When you click on show files in Disk Cleanup, it says folder is empty.

We're not doing anything with our systems and I have the same issue on my desktop, but mine is locked at 741mb. For example, I was just now sitting at 1.14GB....

Doing a disk clean with the "clean up system files" up got rid of all but that locked in 741mb...

And yeah, clicking on "View files" shows nothing in the folder. Nothing. Anyway I was going to post my issue on this last week but didn't, and now I see this thread.

BTW, my laptop doesn't display this issue, so it seems to be random as to what machines this is occurring on. Both machines are Windows 10 Pro x64, version 1703, Build 15063.540 - latest non-insiders build.

Edit, this also doesn't appear to be a new issue under Windows 10 - Unable to Delete Temporary Files in my Windows 10 pc - Microsoft Community (14 pages).

Hello everyone, I personally believe that clicking the files will show me the residual files, but no, do not teach them, do the scan again and when you leave the window just give it OK. Begins to cleanse debris.

If anyone does find out an answer to this problem, then this thread on the Microsoft forum would like to know....

Q: Windows 10 - Temporary Internet Files cannot delete

...it describes exactly this problem of phantom 'undeletable' temporary internet files - and has been running for over two years (and 19 pages) without a solution.

Oh, and it's showing 1.43GB for me.

This is funny. Y'all got me curious so I ran mine.

    1st run, 800 mb
    2nd run, 823 mb
    3rd run, 774 mb
    Ran CCLeaner
    4th run, 938 mb

Phantom Files is a good description. They don't exist but looks like they do.
