nope, just did, well under a minute. bit longer than if it was a cold start, as i added in the shutdown time. (i've got shutdown set to autoend hung programs, and to use minimum wait times).

Yes l can and will help. I endured this problem and was sent diving though hoops with all these fixes an d suggestions, finally i was going through old pc magazines and found this in the November 2017 issue. As soon as I read THIS step i knew my problems were over ! I have copied and pasted the step verbatim here. The no again to PC Magazine for ending nearly a year of frustration, please pass it around ( include Microsoft) so they might have a clue also.

    10. Disable ClearPageFileAtShutdown and LargeSystemCache

Thanks for posting what worked for you.

Interesting that ClearPageFileAtShutdown exists on your PC- it doesn't by default... at least not on build 1709.

For ref. and with relevant note, in particular that ClearPageFileAtShutdown has to be created:
Note: Enabling this on SSDs will increase the amount of data written to the SSD on every shut down or restart. The page file is usually quite large in size, so several gigabytes will be written to the SSD.

LargeSystemCache exists on mine, value 1.

My boot to lock screen is about 12s.

    - there are many possible causes of a slow boot. You seem to be suggesting this is the one. Glad it worked for you.
