"Not enough free RAM" is also a somewhat of generic error message when a program tries to write to wrong place in memory or is limited to only specific address range. I've run into that or similar error many tines and upon checking I found that there was actually a lot of free RAM left, it was just that a program didn't "know" where to find it.

Also some of the "More Rubbish" type of 3rd party FREE A/V software can keep hogging RAM and not releasing it --- don't run more than 1 A/V program at the same time --- and people will have different views on this --- but with Ms doing a lot of updates and new releases recently I'd stick to Windows defender for the moment -- and then if you really want to run 3rd party A/V software wait until the development cycle has stablized out a bit.
Some 3rd party A/V stuff IMO only works by slowing down the machine so much that you can never get on the net in the first place to get infected !!!!! Norton and Macafee (We call it MacAWEFUL) both of which are much beloved by corporations IMO are the worst offenders here.

Yeah, but I wonder of those numbers, how many are non-upgradable laptops vs. upgradable desktops. Example, my 2013 Asus Ultrabook is only 4gig of RAM and can't be upgraded, whereas my desktop is 32gig of RAM. Thus looking at the data, MS sees me as having one PC with 4 gig of RAM, and one PC with 32gig of RAM.
Anyway, in all my years in PC's I've never heard of "RAM Cleaners"! What in the world
There were/are also memory defragmenters, but all they work so they force writing caches and any presently not used memory to virtual memory on disk. Unfortunately that free RAM gets used fast enough all over again. As windows got better at managing RAM, use of those programs have diminished to 0. W10 even compresses part of RAM so it doesn't get all fragmented. Better algorithms for writing to and reading from virtual memory and better algorithms for caches make programs like that obsolete.A bit late to the party but...

I stand by everything I have said about these programs. And there is much more that could be said.
This is not just my opinion. It is shared by such individuals as Jamie Hanrahan, Mark Russinovich, and David Solomon. They, and others, are co-authors of the Microsoft publication "Windows Internals", 7th edition. All have an understanding of Windows internals and memory management that far exceeds my own. All have written about these programs, none of it favorable.
