    Windows 10 pro rebooting


    Hi all am trying to help a friend he has an old HP Compaq laptop with windows 10 pro installed every time i turn it on windows restarts its self does not stay on long enough to do anything please help

    Does it take you to the advanced startup menu at all?

    No it does not just says windows will restart hangs for a few minutes then restarts

    Could be a bios issue, but more than likely a corrupt startup file.

    The history often helps. For example
    - it was working yesterday but then I dropped it..
    - it was getting more and more unreliable..
    - I xyz then...

    I suggest, starting from basics:
    1. Check the disk.
    Download Kyhi's boot DVD/flash drive from the top of the software and apps section.
    This will boot your PC from the DVD/flash drive into a version of Win 10.

    Download Crystal Diskinfo (free, portable) and run that. It will give a Good/Caution/Bad indication.

    If it does not report Good, you most likely need a new disk.

    2. Download Macrium Reflect's boot disk (free). (Should be easy to find).
    Attempt the repair sequence as here:
