I've had to update the BIOS on several HP systems recently, and I've noticed that their [HP's] update program offers an option to make a recovery flash drive, just in case the update borks your machine. Yours may have this same option. If it does, then there's nothing to worry about, if you use that option first.
Just FYI: Having a Macrium backup and Macrium recovery flash drive or Macrium boot menu serves no purpose if the BIOS flash fails. You need the special recovery flash drive that HP offers you to create in their BIOS flashing utility. If your computer (and hence your BIOS) is too old to have this recovery option, then I would consider taking it to a shop to have it done if you are not comfortable flashing your own BIOS - because, if it fails for them, they can recover it manually.
