Ok SSD installed, OS Clean installed, rebooting in a moment for updates to take effect, now I game all day, usually 12 hours or so, will that have adverse affect on SSD? I'm getting slowly used to shutting down at night again, after a few years of not shutting down, most of the installs will be on 2tb mechanical hard drive, should I move my swap file off the SSD, if so what should I set it for custom size on the 2tb hard drive?
You have already made an image backup with Macrium or something right? If not I wouldn't touch another thing until you did a backup. Most will advise to let Windows adjust and use the swap file. Not an issue to be concerned with.

Ok think i'm set I hope lol

    AHCI confirmed in bios
    Macirum Reflect image done
    Western Digital SSD Dashboard installed
    Made Sure Trim Enabled
    Reinstalled Avast 17.1.2286
Still have to get Malwarebytes 3.0 Free installed
Storing Downloads/Music/Pictures, and stuff on D 2tb drive
Games Most of them will be on D drive, minus one game I might put onto the SSD, Battlefield 4 i'm thinking
I think i'm set far now or I hope lol, I know not Defrag the SSD

Did turn off Automatic defrag, not sure if that disables Trim also, if it did, then I can fix that. Thank you all for the info and help on this matter, so new to SSD drives, but have learned a lot so far

I've been using power strips to plug all pc components into and have been putting my pc's into "SLEEP MODE" when not using them since my first pc back around 2002 or so and have never had one problem with doing it this way......And I'm talking desktop only not laptop!

I see you state to not defrag an SSD....I have never had one so what is up with not defraging an SSD ?

The reason behind defragging a traditional HDD is to reduce the mechanical read/write head seek time. If a file is fragmented, the read/write head has to move all over the disk to pick up the fragments of the file. Reading a contiguous file does not require the read/write head to move as much, thus is much more efficient.

SSD's do not have mechanical read/write heads so file fragmentation does not affect performance. SSD's do have a limited number of writes that can be performed to each storage location, though. Therefore defragging the files on an SSD causes additional writes to be made to storage locations, affecting the service life of the SSD, with no benefit gained in performance.

Thank you all for the info on the SSDs from when I started this thread, do need to optimize my mechanical storage drive later 20 percent fragmented, but i'll do that later on or tomorrow when I first turn on the system. Getting used to shutting down nightly with the SSD now, figure better safe than sorry than trying sleep mode with it.

Might when I do the Creators update, select keep nothing in April, or maybe keep personal files, and let it update that way, still have to decide on that part, main thing is don't want too many writes to SSD, so it lasts longer than a few months lol. Think when I do the Creators update Might Choose Defender as Antivirus at that point.

That's fine but unkind to the planet and a fire hazard.
