Disk cleanup tools that cleanup more than 10Gb

    Hi,
I am running low on space on my computer and I want to get rid of some stuff.
However, the disk cleanup tools that I've tried will only get rid of 100Mb.
    Any suggestions?

Have you ran the extended version?

There are other tools, like CCleaner, Wise Disk Cleaner.

You can run this command as admin to cleanup WinSxS files:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

The disk clean-up tools will only remove the files and folders which are considered unneeded - Temp files Logs and mostly other system temp files, there is an option to go advanced which has an option to remove, Uninstall, programs based on usage - of course only you can make the final decision here as to what unused programs you can afford to remove. The same also applies to your data files - can you remove, (after backing up), data you no longer need often or even at all.

If you have no data or program files you can afford to remove - you will need to consider upgrading your storage - this is now reasonably cheap and can be fitted into desktops or laptops ( more awkward and often more expensive )

Check out PatchCleaner. It helps cleanup the C:\windows\installer directory which can get pretty large over time.

Also, get something like TreeSizeFree and you can see which folders and files are consuming so much of your disk space.

A word of caution with PatchCleaner, as it flagged files on my PC that were needed to change/repair existing programs. That happened to me a few months ago but luckily I selected the option to relocate the files to another drive rather than just delete so I was able to restore them and make the needed repairs.

CCleaner also has an add-on name CCEnhancer that can be used to clean-up additional space. As other have mentioned, be careful not to delete items you need!

Also, if your computer has additional drive bays, picking up a 500gb or even 1tb hdd isn't overly expensive these days. Might be worth the $$ if you are running into storage issues.
