I have a report generated last October, but no new one.

What I did notice in that report was this:
Severity:
Informational
Symptom: Missing Events in Event Log
Details: Investigate why 26% (7,338) events were lost during data collection. The settings for Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) maximum buffers and buffer size may not be optimal depending on which data sets are being collected.

I think this refers to sthg similar, but am looking for a more appropriate ref.
Adjusting Buffer Settings for Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) – Parallel Development in Visual Studio
This suggests reporting the problem to the developer- but given the above just how would one do that?

From a command prompt just type PERFMON to run Perfmon. Then look here...

The report above was generated when I ran 'perfmon /report' from an elevated command prompt. Like you, mine appeared to never finish. Eventually I gave up and closed it. Subsequently opening Perfmon showed a report had been generated after all.
This is what shows...

**** try this:
Launch Event Viewer and find Windows Logs.
Expand the group, right click Application, and click Properties.

1.) Ensure Overwrite Events is enabled
2.) Increase the Maximum Log size to 40960

You can manually clear the log as well.

Mine worked after that.

Did you do both of those?
You could try the same with a different category - I should have tried 1 at a time, I did both, then retried the report, so I don't know which made the difference.

The report is generated after the 1min. No need to wait so long.
