Windows 10 Pro IP Build 16299.19 (Branch: RS3 Release)

Just a sec, I am currently manually running the scheduled task command, it will take a while as it goes through all my HDDs too. Will post the results here from the console output once it's done.

This is the command it runs:

    Code:
    defrag -c -h -o -$

yes, that is what I meant the issue is for people with just ONE SSD in system. Now if I add a spinner, I can take out all partitions of SSD and leave spinner checked to have Optimizer enabled.

    I was so terribly wrong!

    Code:
    C:\Windows.old>defrag -c -h -o -$

    The operation completed successfully.

                    Volume size = 499.99 MB
                    Free space = 471.78 MB
                    Total fragmented space = 0%
Largest free space size = 0 bytes

ok, so now based on vadim's article, there are steps that can be taken to remove SSD from Defrag.

But if SSD is the only drive(s) in your unit then windows will defrag the crap out of your Recovery partition or any other partition that you keep selected

    You're welcome.

Something just didn't feel right in this whole thing and vadim's article did make more sense than others.

Yes it's a good article. Wonder why Scott Hanselman has not wanted to put some pressure on the dev team too. One would think he has some saying in this matter?

Either way, because defragmentation is not deeded on SSDs, it should be disabled for those drives. There should be a way to get around this though with a switch to force defrag. I can come up with one reason why I would like to do this on the SSD and that is if I wanna make a sector to sector copy of the drive to a HDD, then the partition would already be defragmented once completed the copy to the HDD. :-)

But then again, the sector to sector copy operation could have an auto defrag function built in which would be even better.

I AM VERY CLOSE TO STARTING MY OWN WINDOWS CLONE OS DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY, UNLESS MS CHANGES IT'S THINKING!

Sorry for shouting, but that statement needs the attention it deserves.
