    Cannot run SFC or DISM to fix no audio issue.


    5 Days ago I started getting this strange error: "SBCinema2.exe - Bad Image." "C:\Windows\System32\audioses.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000020."

    Now there's no sound at all on my PC besides the Desktop screen.

    I use SoundBlaster Cinema 2 and Realtek HD audio manager but attempts at launching either gets me spammed by errors until i click them all away.

    I was also havng issues with my desktop programs all disappearing because of a similar error though that cleared up upon reboot. Not sure how relevant that is but it started at the same so I figured I should share it.

    I've tried SFC but when I do, it stops at 54% Verification and then says "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

    When I try DISM I get " Error: 87. The online/cleanup-image/restorehealth option is unknown."

    I've tried disabling audio drivers/devices and reinstalling both programs multiple times to no avail.

    I tried to update Windows to see if that might help but the settings window is now incredibly slow at opening up. It just stalls on the green window.

    I'm pretty much at wits end here.

    Hi, suggest you start by doing some routine things.

    1. Check your disk. Download and use Crystal Diskinfo free, portable version available) which checks your disk SMART params. (What sort of disk(s) do you have?)
    If you can't do this by booting up your PC you can boot from Kyhi's bootable DVD/disk - see the top of the Software and Apps section

    Post the result (gives quick green/orange/red indication).

    2. How does your PC behave if you boot to Safe Mode? (If responsive, no errors, tends to suggest Windows may be ok, problem lies elsewhere, but needs confirmation).


    Do you have any disk images you can revert to? (We strongly recommend the routine use of disk imaging so you usually have a way to revert to a previous working state without technical help).
