How many addins or extension do you have running in Chrome?
That's almost none. I have a default chrome Chrome and it was using about the same as some of your sessions. Started Firefox, it had much higher usage (???) and started Edge, it used the least.
By any chance, did you customize your page file. While I can't quote at a technical bits and bytes level I know there is some relation so I thought I would ask.
Hmm I am like you Ken not that well versed in that stuff but this might be of help Virtual Memory Paging File - Change it comes from the main tutorial
Optimize Performance of Windows 10 which is similar to the 7 one and i use it all the time for setting up installs or friends / relatives machines.
It might not be of any use but I thought worth looking at.
John:)
Did you change / customize page file.
From your last screen shot the memory is obviously being consumed in Mapped File. When i googled I got the term memory-mapped files.
I know this process will be tedious but if you want to get to bottom could I suggest that you do a clean boot and run RamMap again.
Check the values.
Then start you apps, one by one, and do something you would normally do in this app and then check RamMap numbers again. My thinking is you will then see where all these mappings are coming from. My thinking could be flawed. You may also want to see, or someone following this thread may know of a utility that exposes what is using Mapped Files.
This article is from MSDN. You may want to have a peek.
