Ahh interesting. So only 478's with Northwood, that's good to know. I personally don't know anyone myself that has that hardware, oldest I know of is a friend that has AMD 939 and another friend that has Socket 775. The oldest I have is (xp machine) 5400+ AM2.
No, you misunderstood. Northwood cores shipped in 2002, almost 3 years before NX was available. My point is that only 478 cores with J in their names have NX.
At present I am running a Intel Q9300 Quad in a socket 775 at 2.5 gig Hz without any problems. This was originally a Vista machine with an Intel Pentium Dual Cord. I had the Q9300 laying around so I pop it in about five years ago and it still going strong. This is my Win 10 system.
755s don't really count as a challenge both in hardware requirements, ease to find, cost, age and tolerance to setup/use.
As for NX bit, there's also the option to patch the installer and have it bypass that check. Folks on MDL did it with Win8. There's a good possibility MS left the NX software fallback code in place so you might not have any issues running on non-NX CPUs having bypassed the installer check. Of course windows update will wreck your day but these tricks aren't really meant for actual use/production machines. Just having fun.

I'm testing Windows 10 TP, various builds and on various platforms.
I think the oldest PC I have running 10122 currently is an old Dell (refurbished) laptop with an Intel 32 bit motherboard (T2060), with just 2.5 GB of ram. Build 10122 is running great on it.
Another laptop that I have running 10135/64, is an HP laptop about six years old with an AMD cpu and 2 GB of RAM.
Again, running great!
All this talk about sockets, means practically Nothing to me. (or the average user)
It's not something I pay a lot of attention to.

Seems like the NX feature is pretty harmless to bypass for Win8 as the software fallback code is still there from Vista/7 so you don't have to worry about crashes if the OS needs that functionality.
