@Adalwar - I'm wondering how this related to the problems reported- which is high disk usage as a percentage, but the actual transfer rate is very low. This is not about CPU usage (reported as 2%). And given "I just found out that if i hit my laptop (lightly) , my disk usage starts to drop but after few sec it starts increasing again" this tends to suggest a simple mechanical problem as a first guess.. so what problem are you addressing?

    Hi dalchina,
Surely it can be HDD related, but from experience, I even posted here or in Eight Forums the same problem, but it is OS related. I could not identify what was exactly the source but my system run OK.
I believe that high disk usage is coming from OS retries / concurrently loading Drives/Software and they are take too long to load.
Also DCOM errors or writing Events is taking a long time and all that kind of things are using a lot of HDD performance.

WARNING @ Ashar: AVOID to HIT your HDD, you will cause Head Crashes on Disk surfaces and will destroy your HDD. If you see a slow by hitting the PC it means only that Heads were hit the surface and then restoring to its normal working.

I would like to come to point of slow MB/s after booting.
My HDD has a performance of around 100MB/s (Winsat testing). After Booting going that Task Manger Performance of the HDD mostly stays at 6MB/s. How to explain this? Well, the best explanation is that there a huge quantity files loading at same time and the Disk Heads are just moving / jumping from Sector to Sector resulting in that very poor MB/s.

EDIT: Before someone comes saying I should Defragment DIsk, I just analysed HDD it is only 4% fragmented.

Tried all kind of bs to remedy to the 100 percent disc usage from turning off notifications, stopping wsearch... So far I can tell it was the anti-virus Avast that I was using. It was trying to get involved in every win10 move or mine.
I switched to eset on 3 pc s that was suffering from the same ailment. And am happy to report I no longer deal with this issue.
I recommend Uninstalling any av or real time malware bs. Keep windows defender only and observe pc behavior.
Even eset I had to minimize few of its scanning and bs. Hope this helps...
Win10 is by no means perfect

Interesting- I've found exactly the converse - installing Avast in a couple of instances has stopped Defender or AVG (i.e. in place of it) using excessive resources.
