SFC and SFCFix Logs (Windows 10 corruptions)

    Hello,

I have some issues with my Windows 10 Pro OS. So far, there are few problems I am facing and they are as follows: (For now)

1: When I put my PC into sleep mode/hibernation, every time, the PC auto wakes up at 2:00 am and at 1:00 pm (UK time)

1.1: This is another issue with putting PC in sleep mode/hibernation. whenever I put PC into sleep mode and then I try to login back it works good but after every 4 consecutive sleep modes/hibernations and sometimes only with one sleep mode/hibernation, the PC won't show up the login screen. The monitor screens just goes black and moving keyboard/mouse or doing anything won't help and I am forced to press the restart button or must completely shutdown and boot again in order to be able to use the PC again.

So in summary, the PC is limited only to sometimes 1 time and most of the times 4 consecutive times sleep modes/hibernations and must be restarted or shutdown.

2: Recently I tried to run SFC /Scannow but the scan stops at 62% and gives the following error message:

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 62% complete.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

I also ran SFCFix and attached both SFC and SFCFix Logs.

3: Since Windows 10 Anniversary Update, I tried many times to update my Windows via ISO (download the correct ISO) about a month ago, I wasn't been able to update the Windows.
The update runs fine up until very last stage and at 91% my PC restarts and then shows Restoring Your Previous Version of Windows.
Then restarts back and boot normally but with no update and there is no error log or anything. After every try, I encounter the same issue.

I left it without update and thinking there might issue with updating through ISO but, yesterday I decided to check for Update in the Windows Settings and noticed I finally received the Anniversary Update and let download and install but then again everything went fine up until the last stage and encountered exact same issue! Of course, I did search about the issue and found some suggestions to try disconnecting HHDs and run the update again.
I did disconnect HHDs and only left my SSDs (in Raid 0) but guess what happened. Yes, that's correct, the exact same issue of 91%!

Could you kind people here help me sort at least these issues for now? I would greatly appreciate it and sorry for my long story.

Hi, I suggest you follow this procedure:
Precede it with this in case sthg has happened to your file system:

    From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

    Recommendation:
Before you perform the following major repair procedure, do create a disk image (see below).

An In-place upgrade repair install will fix many things, but not those where the settings are not changed by the procedure.

For this you need an installation medium with the same base build as you have installed, and x64 if you have a 64 bits OS, else x86 (32 bits).

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums
    - this includes a link from which you can obtain Windows 10 iso file (" download a Windows 10 ISO"), or create a bootable medium.

I would recommend creating the bootable medium, as this can be used
    - for any future in-place upgrade repair install
    - to boot from and use its recovery options should Windows become unbootable.
    - to clean install Windows

This will refresh Windows, after the manner of a Windows installation.
    - all/most associations will be unchanged
    - all your programs will be left installed
    - no personal data should be affected
    - you will lose any custom fonts
    - you will lose any customised system icons
    - you may need to re-establish your Wi-Fi connection
    - you will need to redo Windows updates subsequent to the build you have used for the repair install
    - Windows.old will be created
    - system restore will be turned off- you should turn it on again and I recommend you manually schedule a daily restore point.
    - you will need to redo any language downloads including the display language if you changed that)
    - inactive title bar colouring (if used) will be reset to default
    - if Qttabbar is installed, you need to re-enable it in explorer (Options, check Qttabbar)
This is one of the better features of Win10: as each major build comes out, that's your updated reference build, and as updates are mostly cumulative, there will be few to do.

Please consider using disk imaging regularly. It's a brilliant way to
    - preserve your system (and your sanity)
    - back up your data
    - restore your system to a previously working state in a relatively short time

Recommended: Macrium Reflect (free/commercial) + boot disk/device + large enough external storage medium.

Note: there are plenty of threads on this forum on sleep - not being able to- waking up after x minutes etc. Should you have further such problems, feel free to search the forum and then if necessary post back with what you've tried.

Thank you very much for your reply and valuable instructions! Much appreciated!

I Ran a CHKDSK and I also found the CHKDSK log in the Event Viewer. The attachment is the recent CHKDSK Log.

Did I understand correct that, if I perform a Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade that will repair windows issue but I will not lose any installed application such as:

    Games
    MS Office
    Installed Broweser
    Adobe Applications
    And other installed applications/softwares?

Before I make a silly mistake, I better be 100% sure that I just misunderstood everything.
Kindly, correct me if I am wrong.

And of course, I will wait for your further instructions for the next steps.

One more thing I forgot to mention is that I also ran Driver Verifier and on the next boot Windows was stuck looping with BSOD DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION and I couldn't boot into Safe Mode either. As we all know it is impossible to boot in Safe Mode using F8 when Fast Boot is enabled and especially when you have your OS in SSD. So I had to delete the Driver Verifier registry keys/values in other to be able to boot into OS again.

.dmp for Driver Verifier is also attached.

Hi, F8 doesn't work in Win 10 at all- it is possible to enable it (see Tutorial section) but the premise is it's unlikely to work in practice as boot times are faster, especially where SSDs are used.

Chkdsk has obviously fixed a number of things. I would also suggest before proceeding you download install and run e.g. Crystal Diskinfo (free) to check the SMART parameters of your drive. It gives a simple green/yellow/red indication.

To try to boot to safe mode if your PC is not bootable you can:
Add safe mode to your boot options (see Tutorial section)
Boot from a Win 10 boot medium and navigate to Safe Mode - somewhat lengthy route.

I believe my comments about in-place upgrade repair are clear regarding your question, and are based on my own experience.
It's always possible there are other effects in some cases.
You get a new copy of windows files, so everything should be consistent.

Use disk imaging as stated so you can get back to where you are should anything go wrong. Disk imaging is strongly recommended here.

    Thank you again!

After doing some more research, it was confirmed by other people that in-place upgrade leaves the installed applications untouched.
So, I went ahead and carried the in-place upgrade and also was going well until the very last stage and then again PC decided to restart at 93% and then the same extremely frustrating Restoring Your Previous Version of Windows and was back to where started.

But this time, the Windows Media Creation Tool showed the below error code!

0xc1900101-0x4000d the installation failed in the second_boot phase with an error during migrate_data operation

So, it was time for a new researching session. After some researching, I came across some suggestions as below from different websites/forums.

"Ok, I finally got it working. I don't know what did it, but it must have been one the following.
    What I did:
    - Deinstalled Avira Antivirus
    - Enabled Windows Defender instead
    - Deleted Items in Prefetch-Folder (C:\Windows\Prefetch)
    - Deleted Items in Temp-Folder (%USER%\AppData\Local\Temp)
    - There was one driver update pending for my WiFi adapter which always failed
    onupdate. I updated it manually
    - I also updated my Intel-Graphics-Driver
    - Uninstalled Windows Phone 8.1 Emulator
    - Disabled all Services, except Microsoft Services
    inmsconfig
    - Disabled all Startup Items in Task Manager
    - Downloaded Update again
    - Installed successfully
I hope this helps someone, glad it finally worked.
    See you at #10049 :)"

Source 2: Fix: We Couldn 0x400D) Error

The above two I can remember I followed and then ran the in-place upgrade and it worked and completed the in-place upgrade installation. Finally worked!!:):):)

After that, I ran SFC /scannow and that also completed with no violation found. Another great thing!

I am yet to check how things goes with the Auto Wake Up from Sleep Mode and freezes and also Driver Verifier related BSODs.

As far as Crystal DiskInfo is concerned, it shows [Good 100%] for both SSDs in raid and also shows [Good] (but no %) for HDDs (not in raid). I am not sure if it is normal no to show % for HDD.

Thank you very much for your instructions and helps D

Good research! It's so frustrating when you have to play guessing games with these procedures.

Crystal DiskInfo should show the % figures for HDD's, but I guess you can assume all is well. You could try a different program.

You should expect some Windows updates.

Now before things go wrong again, consolidate your position and create a new base image (disk imaging):
Creating disk images lets you restore Windows and all your disks and partitions to a previous working state, quickly and probably without technical help.

    You can recover from:
    - a failed disk drive (restore to a new one)
    - ransomware (which encrypts your disk)
    - user error
    - unrecoverable problems from failed updates to problem programs
    - unbootable PC (hardware faults aside)

Images also act as a full backup- you can extract files too.

You can even use images to help you move more easily and quickly to a new PC.

Imaging can even help you sleep at night knowing you have a second chance.

Many here recommend Macrium Reflect (free) as a good robust solution and more reliable than some others. It’s
    - more feature rich
    - more flexible
    - more reliable
than Windows Backup and Restore system images.

It's well supported with videos, help and a responsive forum.

There are other such programs, free/commercial, some with simpler interfaces, but Macrium R is one of the most robust and reliable.

Well, driver verifier is built in to Windows- part of the OS. Hopefully your deleted registry entries have been replaced.

Once you have created your image(s) try verifier again and see if you have problems.

Sure, I also hope the verifier is working fine. We will see to it.

I am going to mark this thread as Solved since I don't see any further business left here. :)
