ccleaner run cleaner
I just installed the free ccleaner and I want to know if it is safe to use 'run cleaner' and what the benefits are.

There have been a number of questions similar to this in the past. Virtually no one will say its bad, I have been using it for years without issue.
I have been using CCleaner for quite a while with no issues. I create a Windows System Image as well as a Maricum backup weekly just in case. As a retired database manager, I believe you can never be too careful.
You are right on the money, TexasBandit! I'll also weigh in to say I've been using CCleaner for at least a decade, and have never shot myself in the foot with it. But he's absolutely correct to observe that peace of mind rests on current backups. They will let you roll back to a previous known good working state if you (or your software) ever manage to mess things up enough to warrant a trip back in time to undo the damage.
