Should I take back up of Windows 10

    Hi,
I am using Lenovo laptop which I brought during 2013-14 it came with Windows 8.1 preloaded, when I bought I took a backup [Recovery Drive] of the same in a Pen Drive as suggested by Windows 8.1.

Later in 2015 I was upgraded to Windows 10 since then I am using Windows 10, till now I have not made any backup. Should I create a new Recovery Drive? Or I can use the same Drive which I created earlier i.e when I bought this new Laptop?

If you suggest me to create new one then is it ok that I create it now? and keep both 8.1 recovery drive and 10 drive.? Just confusing all these.?

I would suggest you to use macrium reflect and back up the whole system on an external hard drive. Click other tasks to create a bootable rescue media.

EDIT: If you wish to go back to 8.1, you can keep the back up and the recovery disk.

    brummyfan's absolutely right.
Disk imaging lets you restore images of your system or data disks/partitions when something goes wrong- or even if you make a mistake.
    It can help if
    - your PC becomes unbootable
    - your hard disk fails- you can restore images to a new one.

Images can be updated periodically; they also act as full backups- you can extract files and folders.
If you use SSD, they are really fast to create.. and much faster after the first.

    Thanks for your suggestion.
But Windows do provide a in-built backup drive creation option and even backup file making option, how far this is good if windows has its own then why should I go with any external backup tool?

Because a number here have found the built in tool unreliable. That's not what you want when you're trying to rescue your system.

    3rd party tools are
    a. much more flexible
    b. feature rich

Macrium Reflect (free/commercial) is the most recommended one.

Please feel free to search for relevant posts of user's experience of Backup and Restore- and you may find this comment made a number of times.
