    Very slow boot, no usb

I just upgraded my i7, 8GB ram laptop to Windows 10 and really need help. Booting up, shutting down, and restarting are extremely slow. This laptop previously had Windows 7 and booted up much faster. I've looked at the startup folder and it is empty. I'm ready to give up and go back because Ive wasted so much time at this. I also looked at services and don't know what to safely turn off. I also searched the web and many people apparently have these same problems and I've not found any solutions.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

How are you shutting down normally it hibernates and should be back up very quick if you restart then it does a full boot which is slower

For normal use I have it "sleep" when I close the laptop lid. That is reasonable time wise, but occasionally I need to reboot and then it takes far too long. The last time I rebooted it took 20 minutes and seemed stuck on "preparing your pc. Don't turn it off". I assumed it must have done an update in the background without telling me which is also annoying.
