    User folder loop eating up hard drive space


    I installed Windows 10 a few weeks ago, but today I noticed that my 1TB hard drive only had 50GB left, despite it only being ~400GB full before the install. I ran Disk Cleanup and removed as much as I could, but it only cleared an additional 100GB. I then ran WinDirStat, and this is what I got:

    Is this normal? My user folder seems to be looping.

    As far as I can tell, the $OF folder is for backups. I've disabled File Backup, and deleted everything except for the latest file version (I would clear everything if I could), but it didn't make much difference. I'm really not sure what's going on.

    There is an extended disk clean you can run that might clean up more of your system. Please see option 2 of the tutorial below:
