All it did was reposition F: & G:
All what did? BIOS or cable swap?

Disks F: & G: are external USB drives aren't they?

Is HP_Pavillion ( E: ) an internal drive or a external USB drive?
edit: I believe it is an internal drive

It might be easier if you disconnect all external USB drives while we sort this out - just to eliminate them from discussion and consideration.

Only thing that changed was F: & G: again.

You have me at a disadvantage ... I don't know what action you're taking when you post
All it did was reposition F: & G:
    and
Only thing that changed was F: & G: again.

Please provide more information, such as

I changed BIOS and the only thing that changed was ...
    -- or --
I swapped cables on the internal drives and the only thing that changed was ...
    -- or --
I disconnected the external drives and the only thing that changed was ....

The screen shots are great - thanks for grabbing just the active window
but they don't tell me what you're doing, only the results of what you did.

Remember, I can't see what you see or know what you know unless you explicitly show me and tell me

    OH, sorry, cable swap.

Disks F: & G: are external USB drives aren't they?
Yes F: & G: are external, and are now disconnected.

Is HP Pavillion ( E: ) an internal drive or a external USB drive?
edit: I believe it is an internal drive
You are correct, E: is and internal HDD

It might be easier if you disconnect all external USB drives while we sort this out - just to eliminate them from discussion and consideration.

The Bios is swapped after I swapped the cables. I'm going to do a restore of Disk C: with all other drive disconnected, what do you think?

Wow - what a storm! Came out of nowhere - blew through in about 20 minutes - Hailstones and everything,
We lost power and the Internet - took a while for cable to come back.

Let me catch up - I'm still good for 2 hours.

Thanks - the screen shot shows that the disk #s did not change after the cable swap.
    System Image Problem-image.png

Then you said that you swapped the disks in BIOS - how did the change to BIOS affect the disk #s?

No, don't restore now, that will only add to the number of things being changed.

We'll get to a restore once the disks are corrected

I think the only thing that will straighten this out, in my mind anyway, is to do as you suggested.

Disconnect the HP_Pavillion drive and post a Disk Management screen shot

Don't make any other changes, just one change at a time.

When too many things get changed it's like trying to change a tire on a moving truck.

While I'm waiting for you to disconnect the drive and post the Disk Management screen shot .....

I need some more information about your machine:

What is the full model of your machine: I have an HP dv6 series laptop, but the full model is dv6-6c10us
Post this first - I can start looking at the information on Hp.com

Then follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine.
Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs
    Post that in another post.

    Thanks

That information will answer the question I just thought of - are there two disk controllers on the motherboard
Some machines have the on-board Intel disk controller PLUS a Jmicron disk controller - the Speccy will tell me.

I'm also wondering if there is a BIOS update available. If there is, I'll let you know if I think it needs to be flashed.

Rule #1: Don't change anything until we both agree that it should be changed
