Win 10 Disk active 100% ONLY when network connected
I am running Win10 on a desktop PC with all updates in place and Norton Security up and running. without any installs I have the often reported problem of a 100% active disk freezing the PC. The difference in my case is it happens ONLY when I plug in the ethernet cable OR a Wifi USB dongle OR the ethernet cable with a USB network adapter. After insert it takes 1-3 sec till disk usage goes up from 0-5% to 100% and the PC is more or less not usable any more.
When I disconnect the network it takes around 20 sec then disk usage goes down from 100 to 0-5 again. Network is OK as I am using wifi and ethernet with other (same WIN 10 same Norton setup) devices.
I tried each and (nearly) every solution I found on the net (full Norton scan, Google-Skype issue, search disabled, superfetch disabled, startup programs reduced, notifications disabled, fixed DNS, paging size corrected) but no improvement at all
I thought that maybe the network adapter could cause the problem, but using the USB wifi dongle or the USB ethernet connector should be a workaround, or?
Any ideas out there?
many thanks
