Thanks, glad you're not experiencing a tricky functional problem. Beware, there are a good number.

If not yet using, do look into using disk imaging routinely - Macrium Reflect (free) is recommended by many - there are others of course.

After WEEKS of trying to fix this error, I came upon a simple solution.

Link to https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/soft...load/windows10 then click on the first button
    "Update Now".
I was worried I would lose my desktop and installed programs, but provided you check "Keep Files and Settings"
then you will receive the latest Windows update cleanly installed, with all programs and desktop remaining the same
and all errors encountered either during Windows Update or during program installations a thing of the past.
Such an easy resolution, rather than messing around with re-installing .NET frameworks or C++ libraries or making
    changes to the registry etc.

Yes, when SFC and DISM have failed fix a problem an in-place repair install can often succeed (keeping your files and apps, as you say).

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

As it's essentially the same procedure as upgrading to the next edition of Windows, (making sure you are logged in when you start it of course) you should not be surprised it keeps all progs and data and most settings as I've so often commented here when recommending it.

You wouldn't expect to lose these when upgrading from, say, build 1809 to 1903... and you can do that by manually downloading an iso and following the same procedure.
