Thanks, i'm gonna play around with those ramdisks a bit.
let me know how you get on, found ram disk prog SoftPerfect Ramdisk which meant to be fastest, recently made free....V3.4.7
Have decided to use 150MB RAM disk on laptop for Temp & Tmp files User & System....will save writing these to SSD, will save me erasing them and can't be any slower than writing to the SSD, when I do my PC will try the same....

Hi,
Most likely a waste of time. Temp files should be erased by the system anyway.Have decided to use 150MB RAM disk on laptop for Temp & Tmp files User & System....will save writing these to SSD, will save me erasing them and can't be any slower than writing to the SSD, when I do my PC will try the same....
You'd probably be better off leaving all available RAM to the OS.
Having an older SATA II only system sitting in the corner with a SATA II SSD drive I can assure you it's quite a bit faster with the SSD than with any HDD. Boot time, whatever.
Without the SSD I would have scrapped it years ago.
Cheers,
