Windows just rebooted my PC at 8:45am this morning and I dont know why

I was using my PC normally, had lots of important documents and programs running and went making a coffee, this was around 8:40 am, when I came back I was puzzled seeing my login screen. I looked into the event logs if the PC just had some very unlikely bluescreen, but it seems Windows itself initiated a force reboot, without user interaction at 8:45:01 am

    Code:
Vom Prozess "C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe (...)" wurde auf Anforderung des Benutzers "NT-AUTORITÄT\SYSTEM" das Ereignis "Neustart" für den Computer "..." aus folgendem Grund initiiert: "Betriebssystem: Service Pack (geplant)" Ursachencode: "0x80020010"
     Herunterfahrtyp: "Neustart"
     Kommentar: ""
I am worried now that it could be some virus maybe. Doesnt Windows normally asks if it wants to do a reboot, because of updates? It totally force closed all my programs I was running.

0x80020010 is software update not complete, meaning it needs to reboot to update system or software files currently in use.

It could have been windows hadn't received any input(key strokes) from you in a bit, and considered the PC to be inactive and initiated Auto Maintenance which includes a scheduled reboot that has been pending.

Like I said, I was away for about 5-7 minutes, and Windows just force rebooted the PC, without user interaction, closing all opened documents and files...

Take a look in Task Scheduler at Windows Update and look at the settings, specially for "Idle Time":

Also you can set a better time for Auto Maintenance tio run:
Windows just rebooted my PC at 8:45am this morning and I dont know why-image-001.png

Idle time means no mouse or keyboard input from you, it has little to do with programs running or settings in Power Options(which some believe).

The settings you mentioned have nothing to do with this:

I also was just about 3-5 minutes away from keyboard including INPUT, I am telling you this now a 3rd time btw.

I think the problem was this setting:

I dont think this can be desired Windows force closing and force rebooting without any idle timeout or user feedback.

But how can I deactivate Windows 10 updating 3rd party drivers or software? I think the problem was Windows 10 installing an update for the Asus touchpad, which I dont want to happen, because it always overwrites an older version over a newer one.

Ok found this: Stop automatic driver updates on Windows 10 | Windows 10 content from SuperSite for Windows

Hope it wont happen anymore in the future.
