I tried this with some skepticism, but it has worked! How weird, and how did you know to try that?
Many times it is just that the RAM isn't seated properly. I'd be willing to bet you could now probably switch them back to original slots and your problem would remain solved.
I had a similar situation: a single 8 GB module, which of course caused single channel mode. I replaced the single module with two 4 GB modules and the result was a visible faster system, using Kodi Jarvis RC1.
I have had this issue on and off for sometime now. But it keeps coming back for some reason.
Sometimes I reboot and it's all good. Other times a system restore or a graphics driver update/reinstall does the trick.
