I would guess that the two operating systems had a major compatibility issue, and that your hard drive properly prepared for a clean install of win 10, 8, or 7 will give you the results you are looking for. I have done dozens, gonna say close to a fifty or more(windows XP and Vista seemed like a regular routine about once a month before the service packs) clean installs with a successful install on every drive that is prepared right. I never install an operating system over an existing operating system for the exact reason of what you have experienced. I did one exception to this, win 10, which operated correctly for about 2 weeks then tanked. Solution, wipe the drive...data. Format, and do a custom install of win xxx follow the instructions. IF POSSIBLE SAVE WHAT YOU CAN BEFORE ANY CLEANING OR FORMATING.
I do not mind losing everything on this drive for that matter as long as i can get my laptop to near tolerating working capacity, if you could give me a step by step format since you seem experienced i would be eternally grateful

Save your personal data and replace the HD or might as well replace with a 256GB SSD. No formatting or clean install will fix your hardware problem.

FYI, Windows 10 did not cause your HD to go bad. Just coincident that your HD is going bad when you upgrade from Windows 8.

Since it is less than 1 year old. I believe you can contact the manufacturer and get an RMA for your HD.
