    @jds63 Yes I am the same way. Even if I knew what caused it and if it was something I done then I would be more careful for sure. With all Windows in general an update can cause havoc for a while if it glitches. So nothing is ruled out when a problem occurs and so many places to look..

    cheers
    Your welcome, again! Yes, would just bother me to not to know what is was to prevent it again from happening.

    I've noticed that visiting certain newspaper websites causes my CPU usage to rise quite dramatically - sometimes up to 80%. And the fan in my Surface Pro3 becomes quite noisy. Especially if I open articles in multiple tabs.
    Close them all and usage drops to single figures and the fan is virtually silent.

    @RogerB Nothing surprises me about Windows 10 now. Friends have reported things out of the ordinary but I guess it's growing pains lol. It reminds me of MMO games, each time they do a update there is always glitches with some systems.
    I am more observant now since I had a few time-consuming instances. Keeping a close eye on my cpu usage meter and it seems to be doing well (knock on wood). Hope my luck stays that way.

    Perhaps when the proposed November upgrade arrives things will improve. Then again.....

    I have EXACTLY the same issue. I am hesitant to disable the svchost.exe. Have you had any issues since you disabled that program?

    Thanks,

    @Louisaz
    No I didn't have any issues when I "end task" the svchost.exe. I don't think you will either. Well the worst that could happen is you may have to reboot your computer I would assume. When needed again it will restart.

    disabling svchost.exe

    I posted my issue on another sub-forum and received a reply indicating that my PC was simply updating and that the CPU usage would settle down in a day or two. I will wait and see if that is the case.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Best,

    Louis
