ok I will keep an eye on it on my next startup to see if it starts again. I shall monitor it for a while.
True, but by disabling auto-start programs it could help find the culprit program(s).
Then look for a solution to those programs.
Personally, i disable anything that is absolutely not needed (by me) on every startup.
I have seen many programs that set things to auto-start when they are installed or updated.
99% of the time these auto start programs and services don't need to always run.
They work just fine when i manually start the program.
Greatly appreciate the help you both gave me. I have made a note and pasted the info in case I need reference another time.
Started my computer this morning and when everything loaded for first time I am at 2-7% which is normal I assume. Today after work I shall take your advice and see what is not necessary to be running at startup.
The only thing I can think of what happened was that some instances didn't shut down after completed. Yesterday I spent a lot of time transferring files from my internal 1TB drive to several of my USB TB drives. There were times when I had several instances of files copying to different drives and they were large files. I would come back an hour later and transfer more.
That was the only thing I done with the computer yesterday so maybe that was it.
I will still monitor the Task Manager to see how it is performing and wait a few days before marking this thread as solved.
cheers
All the files transferred and completed while the drives were open. It was not until about 20 mins after that I logged into my online game and could not move my character because of lag which was actually the high cpu usage. I shut the usb drives off when I noticed the high cpu usage but that didn't change anything. I am only guessing that it was something didn't close and maybe like you said, it may have been windows update trying to get an update.
I have been working all day plus overtime and just got home and computer is working fine.
I will mark this post as solved for now.
Thank you all again
@jds63 Yes I am the same way. Even if I knew what caused it and if it was something I done then I would be more careful for sure. With all Windows in general an update can cause havoc for a while if it glitches. So nothing is ruled out when a problem occurs and so many places to look..
