    Stop Win 10 updates

I have tried various suggestions to turn off the Windows 10 updates but they still keep coming.

Tried this one and it was Windows ignored it anyway.

How to Disable Windows 10 Update in Every Way - EaseUS

Any other suggestions are most welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi, this has been asked so many times.. the searchable Tutorials section is one great place to start:

Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10

    and
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...ws-update.html

More if you were to search tenforums e.g.
StopUpdates10 4.6.2024.0403 - Take your Control over Windows 11/10/8/7 updates!

You need to consider the implications of the method you use, as you may well stop the Store from working if you use it.

What I posted on another forum, same type subject:
Sorry but as long as a computer is connected to the Internet there is really no way to stop all updates. Long ago it was announced that some Upgrades and/or updates to them can't be avoided and some may not even be shown to the User. It is possible to use a different computer and the Windows Update Catalog to download then transfer via external drive to install only those desired but then how would one determine that need without being connected.

My experience of blocking all updates from 1903 thru much of 2 major builds (the debacle of 1909), was that that was completely successful.

At that time I used Sledgehammer- and the script in my second link is based on that.

Your experience may, of course, differ.

I should add 'target feature update' as well- stay on your current major build (tutorial available in the searchable Tutorials section)

I'm attempting the same. I think the "security risk" sales-quoted by microsoft is way overstated. we have four windows 7 based systems running here with absolutely no issues (they run better than my W10 laptop). If I'm back to grovel then I was wrong. I can tell you on 21/6/24 whether or not the updates were paused. From microsoft's per-week perspective, put it this way, do microsoft want you to own your systems contents, or do microsoft want your system to be part of some PAN (planet area network) where they have total control of the binary contents of your SSD/HDD. I'd suggest Microsoft want complete control over your system

I've just upgraded from Home to Pro, so I might have a new set of options available. (edit - everything is easy once you know how ;-)

There's nothing hard about this.. just don't try to do it yourself by hacking services or files.

If you have Pro, it's easy- set updates to Notify in Group Policy.
Using target feature update (as above) is also a good idea.
