Windows Start menu Search returns only the disk drives and hardware co

    Hello,
In my Win.10 uses the classic Start menu.
Lately my search returns only generic results instead of the specific files, folders, apps etc., which explains the best when you see the pictures of them.
Any ideas how get back to the standard function?
    Thank you

Hi, I think that's Classic Shell (note Open Shell has replaced it- basically the same program).
Have you made sure the search settings are appropriate?
    Example:
Windows Start menu Search returns only the disk drives and hardware co-1.jpg

Note that you seem to have attached your images- so they don't expad when clicked on.
    Here's how:

    (Tutorial available)

Is Windows search working normally? E.g. from file explorer's search bar.
    Post a screenshot like this:

    Hi dalchina,
These are the screenshots of yours and mine.

The noticable difference is in the Indexing Options.

    What is your suggestion?
    Thank you

Forgive the obvious suggestion: choose a program you have installed that is listed in your start menu and search for part of its name. The example you show above may not match any installed app or program.

    Hi dalchina,
My goal is to restore the normal/default funtionality of Seach.
    Like this one

    As opposed to this one
Windows Start menu Search returns only the disk drives and hardware co-search.jpg
Do I make the changes in the Indexing Options, if yes then how? You could see now my computer knowledge is limited.
    Thank you for your patience

    I know.
    Please try what I asked.
Why? Because only the sections in which something is found are shown. Thus, if your search text matches not programs, the programs section isn't shown.

If that doesn't find a program then see:
Windows Start menu Search returns only the disk drives and hardware co-untitled.png
    and reset all settings.

(Note- those are nothing to do with knowing about computers as such- simply logically thinking through the options available).

You could also try completely uninstalling Open Shell and reinstalling it.
