I ran SFC scan now with this message
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

    Here's the Log
    https://onedrive.live.com/?id=C256E2...56E2DAE26B22A5

    Any advice on this?
You haven't shared the log file, I can't see it without signing in.

However, when SFC says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." it invariably means that the files it requires from the component store are corrupted too. Fix this with:
    DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
Then restart and run SFC again.

Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image

Thanks Bree if the Laptop is faster it may be worthwhile to use it for my emails and browsing, because it was definitely faster when out of town and maybe the Desktop computer isn't worth messing with. I can move to the laptop and maybe use remote desktop to access it with my Desktop. I may even upgrade the RAM to 8 Gigs

Use the money to buy a SSD and do a clean install. You will see a huge difference.

Did you run the DISM command given in the notes at the end of Option 3?
    SFC - TenForumsTutorials

Use Option 5 of the SFC tutorial to extract a text list of the SFC results from that CBS log.
That text file file is small enough to post its contents in plain view in your post.

clock speed or any specs really does not matter in this instance because you are comparing computers that are in different ball parks. Computers that are 16 years apart in difference

My laptop has Win 11 home and remote desktop is only available for win 11 pro which the upgrade is $99. It said something like I could use the activation from my Win 10 Pro, which I have on my upstairs computer. Is it possible for me to use this? I could even install Win 10 pro on the laptop and then upgrade to Win 11 Pro. I wonder if that would work? Any suggestions?

If you have a Win10 Pro key available then you don't need to install 10 Pro and upgrade that to 11. You can upgrade W11 Home to W11 Pro just by changing the installed key to the W10 Pro key. There is no difference between a W10 key and a W11 key, they are all valid for Win10/11.

Can I then use both computers? My main computer is Win 10 Pro and MS wouldn't let me upgrade it to Win 11, which actually I see no benefit of doing anyway

You will only be able to use the Laptop.

    - System 1 is 4th gen no good for 11
    - System 2 is pre i core series so no good for 11

The laptop is the only official win 11 compatible.

System 1 is still good plenty of life in it but not by Microsoft standards.

Also what computer are you asking about with your initial post is that correct? because system 2 is worse than system 1 in your specs. but you are asking about system 2 and the laptop which is unlisted.

System 1 is much better than system 2. I would argue that system 1 is also better than that laptop as well its just lacking because it cannot do win 11 officially but the tech is better than the laptop.

That is borne out by the benchmarks, @GerryPeters System One with its Core i7-4790K is about twice as fast as the laptop.

While not officially supported for Windows 11 it could be installed using a workaround. The Core2 Q9450 however is just too old, while it could be made to run W11 23H2 it will fail to run the forthcoming W11 24H2 as a Core2 cpu lacks the necessary PopCnt instruction. All generations of the Intel Core CPUs have PopCnt and will be fine with W11 24H2.
