The Dell 760 SFF has 2G of DDR2 memory and a Core 2Duo CPU. I don't think it worth spending money on more DDR2 memory.

Win 10 64 minimum memory is 2G. If you use some for the graphics it will work bellow minimum. There will be nothing left for the programs. It will use disk virtual memory that is very slow.
Win 10 32 minimum memory is 1G. If you use some for the graphics it will still be some left for the programs.

In other words, with 2G of memory the computer will work better with Win 10 32 bits.
Win 64 is only necessary when you have more than 3.2G of memory available for the OS.
2gb per slot it it will most likely have 4gb as 4gb was the common amount around 800mhz ddr2 era, if it was purchased second hand then it may have the full 8gb.

I see these systems on our local Ebay with the full 8gb all the time so its possible if they bought it this way then it will have.

DDR2 is cheap here like 10 dollars or less a stick not going to break the bank.

10 is going to be slow pre 1st gen because its doing lots of extra stuff. XP is ideal for a computer like this but its so depreciated you need to know how to use a OS that old effectively, half the stuff will not work out the box to someone who is unsure.

it could have 2gb not sure but core2duo was peak platform for its time and you need 4gb minimum for these processor to work effectively. where 2gb was less common mainly on embedded core2 systems.

Many thanks for the great suggestions guys, really appreciated. I decided to do the right thing by an older friend, so bought a refurbed box with Win 11 and set it up. Runs like a rocket and she is beside herself with thanks.
