1% CPU at idle
My laptop used to have 0% cpu usage when idle, but for the last 2 months it's 1%. Is this normal?

I do not know how you could ever detect cpu is at 0% as running task manager would take 1% at least.
All my devices idle at around 1% - there are always some background processes going on.
So yeah, quite normal.
I always disable unnecessary services and tasks in Task Scheduler. Yes, my system was 0% at idle.
It can't be as asking how much CPU is used will require some use it may be very low but it doesn't run on fresh air
Well you would literally have to leave your display on and take a camera from outside the computer and see exactly
Pefectly normal unless your trying to achieve a 0% usage stat.
I have a anti-virus + eye-candy stuff + settings. So far I am seeing 20%. However other times I see 5%.
As long as the electrical current draw is not hitting 30W and you are not doing anything at all. Everything should be
around 10% and climbing and falling.
Again depends on what you have running.
Huh - I would be really annoyed if my pc idled at 5-20%.
I do not know where you get the idea where idling should be around 10%.
If you get that, your pc is poorly optimised.
Mine idles at 1% without doing anything major other than disabling unnecessary start up/ running of background programs.
It is about the display of numbers, number rounding to 1 digit to give a pleasing look.
If what you are looking at is the Task Manager then click on the 3 dots > Resource Monitor.
In the CPU section you will see CPU usage to 2 decimal places.
e.g. the Task Manager itself maybe 0.02% or something like that.
There is no way CPU usage can be 0%. That would only be the case if you removed/disconnected the battery and BIOS settings battery, and discharged any residual energy in capacitors.
My Laptops have always flickered around 0%-2% at idle.
Anything like 5%-20% would lead to checking what was wrong and/or poor settings somewhere.
Actually it is the "SearchApp" that is running ( usually when I had perform a search even if I had canceled the search )
Stopping that put me back at %5.
Anything else is probably the fact I have Winstep Nexus and probably unrelated stuff running in the background
( like "services" needed for other programs to actually run. ) I also have a Wacom driver as well, including other
programs idling, looking for temp monitors, or waiting for a command.
%5 is okay I guess. Sometimes it randomly drops. My machine is around 10-20w when nothing is occuring. 15w being
the mid-range. This is the desktop/labtop without the GPU. When the GPU starts that will automatically go above 30W
the least most and of course 300W when in actual use.
Sitting at idle a program like photoshop will claim memory based on the size of the project but the CPU will be 5%
