sfc /scannow can't fix corrupted files.

I ran sfc /scannow on windows 10 pro and it said it couldn't fix some files. Looking at the CBS.log file it says some have dual ownership. I came across this website Duplicate Ownership for Directory Error: 4 Ways to Change it

The powershell command wants an input and I ddin't know what to enter. So I ran the dism command
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:SourcesInstall.wim:1 /LimitAccess

    It completed successfully.
I then reran sfc /scannow and it still has corrupt files.

    See attached cbs.log file

What actually caused the dual ownership and hash mismatches?

    Did you reboot between operations?

yes, after sfc. However, upon reboot and rerunning sfc it says it found corrupt files. I can't reset the pc, since the laptop was created from an original mediacreation tool setup and doesn't have a reset partition nor do I want to start from scratch. It's taken about a month to get all the apps installed and setup.

If SFC finds errors it can't fix... you need to run this command from an elevated command prompt...

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

An Inplace Upgrade is probably your best choice then.

@zbook - See the attachment for the results from the batch file. Note: I have two dell 7347 laptops, the first has win10Home that passes sfc and the second with win10Pro that doesn't. Both are up to date on the Jan 2024 patches and both have installed the problematic KB # update too. The pro version does have sql server 2022, viz studio 2022, powerbi installed whereas the win10Home doesn't. Other than that, they both have office, antivir software the typical browsers too.

One of things I checked on was the ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Up properties which was one of the duplicate owner errors. It shows there is an unknown Account assigned to this directory name. S-1-5-21-136909624-2393291316-3396339295-1000. Is there a way to find out which program or user uses this unknown Account?

    The report displayed recurrent fixes.

A trial and error step is an in place upgrade repair to see if it can fix the reports of recurrent fixes:

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

    Code:

@swegmike - This is the correct solution. If that fails to fix problems, you may need to consider reinstalling.

Very Important - make sure you have backed up any critical data before doing a repair upgrade. Preferably make an image backup as well.

Of course, you could just do nothing if you are not experiencing any issues.
