    DISM Source file issues

Many of the threads on this topic search appear to have wandered off into other areas, so excuse the new thread....?

    Win10 Pro/22H2/19045.3570. Trying to run DISM/restorehealth.

I am trying to avoid a 'repair'. I have spent ages Googling and finally thought I had found away to beat the 'source file cannot be found', but no!

I have a fresh ISO on DVD. It has the 'sources/install.esd' file on it, Drive D. In the process I have also copied install.esd from the DVD to C:\sources\. I have also established that Win10 Pro needs index 6 from the file, using DISM /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:install.esd.

    I have run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

    I have tried DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:wim:D:\sources\install.esd:6 /limitaccess (DVD TRY) and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:wim:C:\Sources\install.esd:6 /limitaccess (access copied file on C drive)

Every attempt fails to find the 'source file'.

Can someone please check what I am entering and tell me where I am going wrong?

You can't use the wim: argument with ESD files.
    Code:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:D:\sources\install.esd:6 /limitaccess

    Mike,

I suggest you work through the tutorial on the subject
Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image - TenForumsTutorials
and, if you have problems, create separate posts for each problem [to keep things straightforward] in which you include screenshots of the cmd/PS window showing both the command you entered and the computer's response.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Heavens! This is a quagmire!

First question: DISM tells me the ISO is English(US). My machine is set for English(UK) display and I do not recall an option to download the ISO for that. Is that causing the problem) (re the post above by 'Hearsepilot' who has not responded.)

Both US and UK packs are installed.

Supplementary question: If I took the 'repair/upgrade' option using the DVD to save all this bother, what exactly would I lose in terms of installed stuff?

Open the Command Prompt with admin rights and execute below command.

    Code:
    Dism /Online /Get-Intl

Posting the results will help clarify the International Settings and Languages set.

    I hope this helps.
