    Disappearing Hard Disk Space

    Hello

I am running Windows 10 on an HP note book. My hard drive is partitioned to three, Drive C, Drive D and Drive E
Recently, I noticed that I am running out of Hard Disk space on drive C
I removed and cleaned up the hard drive to create a 10 GB space. Within a day, I am down to 400 MB disk space.
I then removed an additional 1 gb of files and the hard disk space is down to 300 mb

What is going on? Is this a virus or what?

I ran Noton anti virus but it found nothing.
I ran MicroSoft Windows Malicious Software removal tool ver 5.17 and it found nothing.

    Help please

Hi, to see where space is going the tool I always recommend is Wiztree (free):

The forum clearly prompted you to post your build number e.g. 19045.xxxx (so we don't have to keep asking).

Also please add PC model, disks to your specs. Tutorial available if needed.
(Click My Computers below my post for example).

    Thanks.

As suggested above, Wiztree is a great starting point.

Keep in mind... that Windows might be creating restore points, these use space, and it could use more space depending on what you do. Also, internet browsers use a lot of space for cache, literally gigabytes and depends on how much you browse the web, or what sort of websites you visit, you can reduce and limit your cache, and if you are running on SSD disk you should!!! this also includes sessions (firefox) because they will hurt your SSD.

There was a time... when I had some failing apps (didn't work perfectly), and the crashes would leave temp files here and there, also dump-files, you might try to find those first. Also, DISM++ could help you to clean space (the gui app)

Windows might be creating restore points
    - the max amount of space allowed is set by default, and can be adjusted by the user.

dmp files, wer files- can be large, true.

There is the above application mentioned.

Yet I use this app, since it's more simpler for me:

    @Almuhandis

You got a few good recommendations here to gain oversight what's taking up what.
Try a good "cleaning app", a solution such as CCleaner, Wise Care 365, etc.
You be surprised how much disc real estate is being carelessly wasted with no concern.
Quite a few years ago I had a similar problem like you and after installing aforementioned cleaning app, I was stunned that there had been over 25 GB of waste and useless leftover files!

You may find some hints in threads reporting this kind of issue. However note that the cause and the solution may differ in each case:
Where has my hard drive space gone?
145gb Missing Hard Drive Space due to System & Reserved
    (C:) drive space magically disappeared

    - feel free to search tenforums for more.
