Lets hear how your PC's performing with Win 10 vs Win 7 .

I wanted to hear people's experiences regarding overall performance with Win 10 compared to Win 7 and 8 , i am especially interested in computers that may be running Intel i3 and similar processors .

Noticeable performance drop ? Hard to tell any difference ?

    Thanks folks.

It's running a little slower, but not by much which means I might have to refresh, wiping out all my installed programs (apps to you Windows aficionados), in essence doing a "clean" install.
I also login with a local account only and deselected all sharing, disabled Cortana, Cloud, Store and Edge which sped it up. Unfortunately those apps are built in to the OS and can't be uninstalled.

Wow, so you got better performance by disabling all those features huh , thats great , i know what you mean about not being able to uninstall those app's , thats probably the biggest gripe i have about Win 10 .

I am just curious about Win 10 being as responsive as Win 7 on older hardware , is it possible for Microsoft to dum down the capabilities of Win 10 so older computers can work well with it then as soon as you can't go back they crank up the capabilities so are older computers suffer.

I will kick serious a_ _ if they do .

I also edited my start up folder, had a couple of programs running in Win 7 that booted fast with Win 7 but almost doubles the boot time in 10. As for how 10 works with older machines...... Dunno.
My biggest gripe was not having the old Windows Games but I fixed that, the next biggest gripe is not being able to customize updates like we used to be able to. Basically I'm starting to believe those who claim 10 is spyware and adware disguised as an operating system. We'll see........

Interesting that he said he disabled Edge, because even thou I don't use Edge I have found no way to disable edge. Cortana and cloud are disabled on my computer. No use for them at all. Store I left alone, and I have to use sharing as I have 2 computers networked together I have Windows 10 on a Intel SSD and my boot time varies between 28 sec's and 32 sec's. Cold boot or restart boot time does not vary still about the same. My 2nd computer which still has Win 7 Pro, runs fine, solid, no problems. Some programs load faster on my Win 7 then my Win 10. Some.....only difference is my Win 7 computer is a 1 gig hard drive, NOT an SSD and their speeds are mostly the same. I am hoping after we all get the needed upgrades and fixes, things will run a lot smoother. Right now I consider Win 10 buggy. nothing major like lots of others are having problems with, but.....this is not a rock solid OS by any means. Time will tell, always does.

Win 10 is slower to boot and shut down for me as well , my biggest gripe is needing to use "powershell" to remove some apps , that doesn't always work , at least not for me.

For MS to allow people to uninstall some app's and just gray out other app's to prevent you from uninstalling is BS on the highest level . You want to enrage people , thats a good way to do it lol.

My mistake, semantics, I hid it, in essence disabling it.

Win10 Home and Pro, Win10 Insider Preview, Win7 Home, Linux Mint

Win10 is doing just fine for me on several computers, 2 Dell Notebooks upgraded from Win8.1, a Dell Tablet upgraded from Win8.1, an older Dell Desktop upgraded from Win7 which was an upgrade from the original WinXP, a Gateway upgraded from Win8.1 and 2 older rescued Dell Notebooks upgraded from Win7. All but the Tablet are 64-bit. Only had one driver issue and that was with Bluetooth on one of the Dell Notebooks but Dell did have the driver. I have maximized the RAM on most of them rather than stay with the minimum system requirements, a couple of the Desktops could take more than the 8GB they have. The slowest CPU is the Tablet at 1.35GHz.

Well under load it makes a whirring noise....

Overall much faster on boot and shutdown for my main system, my older laptop I don't notice much of a difference, but like that it's still working on it.
