Noticeable performance drop on all my systems, i have done fresh installs on 2 systems of win 7, 8.1 and 10 to compare , windows 8.1 is way faster on both systems whilst on windows 7 is faster than 10 on one of them, so performance wise Windows 10 is a bit of a miss on current builds.

Eventually did not stick it out, had too many issues on my gaming desktop and my laptop with updates and not being able to find the mouse on wakeup (supposedly a known issue). One update tossed my gaming desktop into a perpetual boot loop and I had to do a complete reset, you want to talk being pissed off!!!! Also decided I don't want all the bloatware residing on my computer, I consider Cortana and Edge to be bloatware, also I want full control over my updates so I'm back with Win 7 for now. If Microsucks hasn't decided to start catering to all their customers by the time Win 7 is no longer supported I'll migrate completely over to Linux.
Currently the wife's laptop and the Lenovo Yoga are running 10, had to fix a few issues with 10 on her laptop, rarely use the Lenovo.

Win10 runs the same as Win7 did for me performance-wise, only heck of a lot buggier and the 'Store' broke early on, few months ago, as well as the apps. that rely on it . . . don't really miss that bloatware though. No update ever fixes it, so letting that go.
Never had any problems with Win7. Lots of start-up config. problems with Win10, that only the Macrium Reflect Rescue Media disk can cure. Win10 Repair Disk does nothing to fix start-up problems.

I run some benchmarks on same system in dual boot with W7 Sp1 and same drivers. Had 1 - 10% better marks in W10. Graphics well within 1 - 2% but that's pending Dx12 titles which should give it a good boost.
Best fared memory with up to 10% boost and that was before memory handling changes. Since than I changed to 1866MHz so now I can't compare with old results in W7.
SSD is now running better but I attribute that to better AHCI drivers for my MB.
As far as processor is concerned, it seems that load per core is reduced in W10, load is spread over multiple cores better although benchmark score stayed same. In heavy multitasking there's no more of some cores hitting 100% while other sit idle, not even with single threaded applications.

Done with Windows 10 after this last Fall Creator's Edition update. My gaming desktop is now back to running Win 7 and my laptop is running Linux Mint 18.
Why you might ask, two partially interrelated issues for me. First is mandatory updates, my computers do not belong to Microsoft, second is in the latest update. Up until now I've been able to completely block Cortana from running on my system, the new update took that ability away, oh yeah I can choose not to use it but it still runs in the background sending anonymous telemetry to Microsoft and who knows what else they'll disable or activate on my computer to boost their profit margin in the future. I have until 2020 to decide what to do about my gaming computer, hopefully with the number of games written for Linux growing every day I won't have to worry about it.
Too bad actually, I liked Windows.

Did you try clean format install? If not I would give that a go before ungrading.
On a side note I am running Mint 18.2 on another machine and I rather like it.

You missed my point, forced updates and Cortana, don't want either. If I don't want an update I should be able to hide it thereby not let it install on MY computer. Heck I had uninstalled all of Microsoft's bloatware including all the ones that supposedly couldn't be uninstalled, blocked all of their telemetry, installed Classic Shell and the old Windows 7 games (Solitaire, etc). Now that Microsoft is undoing my preferred configuration I'm done with them other than Win 7 for the time being (ability to block all telemetry and get Windows 10 updates hidden).

W10 appears somewhat faster than my W7 machine, but I attribute that to a difference in hardware. I am forcing myself to using W10 on a day to day basis, but in the end I often revert to the W7 machine. It just feels better
. The start menu screen on W10 I just HATE, HATe, HAte, Hate, looks unprofessional sort of an arcade screen on a kids gaming screen. The old control panel was somewhat easier to use, the new one takes way more effort for me at least. You would think that by this time, MS would have the conversion completed to the new style, its sort of half and half at present. Same for EDGE, it is just klunky, I only use it for browsing, use FF for all other tasks. It just needs a lot more work IMHO. But I keep reminding myself to "go with the flow".
