All my programs including Office 2013/365 are sluggish when starting, saving, editing. Also, I have been using Edge and I find that the web pages often freeze for a period of time, sometimes indefinitely requiring me to restart.

I have HP EliteBook that had original Windows 7, upgraded to Windows 8, and now using 10. Processor - Intel i5.

The email problem was solved by turning off Firewall (which made me a little nervous), but there seems to be nothing to fix the current performance issue.

I wanted to hear people's experiences regarding overall performance with Win 10 compared to Win 7 and 8 , i am especially interested in computers that may be running Intel i3 and similar processors .

Noticeable performance drop ? Hard to tell any difference ?

    Thanks folks.

A royal salute for all geeks out there, Rookie in this forum, but not in windows. i have a pretty fast PC with EVO 850 SSD, i made a upgrade to win 10 from 8.1 in order to get windows activated, afterwards i made a Clean install in a NEW 850 SSD i mentioned, After exactly 30 days i have to admit 8.1 is way faster than 10 Hands Down.

I've been using Windows 10 for a month now and I don't perceive any difference in performance except the slight longer boot time and shutdown time compared to 8.1

However, store apps still like to crash and this is apparent in my reliability history:

Forgot to mention that for me , i experience random freezes also , i have had to use the power button to shutdown on numerous occasions just so i can boot from a Win 10 ISO to get back into recovery options.

Once it freezes forget about it lol, it stays frozen for days if you let it. Every time i have used system restore , the initial message is system restore failed but when logging back in after shutting down i get a message saying system restore completely successfully .

Unfortunately the system restore did not complete successfully , even system restores on the same day and only hours apart .

Very annoying , overall performance is about the same as 7 for me.

Thanks for your post and yes Ten Forums does have many Geeks here and from what I have seen, some or many of them do have valid answer to all questions asked. I know they (Geeks and others) have sure helped me, and helped to teach and show me so much. I have never been a person knowing the geek-stuff, as I have been on the application program and DNS side of the fence. Best to you.. be safe Cliff M.

Browser (both edge and firefox ) freezing and not responding at least every session . Nothing in event log to suggest a problem . Will have to go back to 8.1 if this continues .

Well at 1st after upgrading to win 10 Pro, from win 7 ultimate, I had lots of small problems, took me a few hours each day to figure out how to fix them. Spent 1st 10 days chatting with Microsoft techs, hours and hours actually. ( I was not a member of Windows 10 form at that time) Then After 1 or 2 of Microsoft techs actually made my problems worse, I stop asking them for help. Grin. Actually kicked two off my computer at one point in time. A few of them were actually helpful....depends on who ya get. Then I started fixing things myself, joined This forum, got lots of help and ideas on all kinds of things. Learned commands that I never knew existed before!! I've been on computers for over 30 years, heck maybe 34 years, but you are never too old to learn new idea's!!!!
I've seen a lot of the problems others are reporting the last month or so, mine were never as bad as a lot of theirs. Wow. Guess I was lucky. But....Thanks to the folks and the tutorials on here (Brink) and putting in a lot of research on different problems. Today this old HP computer with only 8 gig of memory with just a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 @3.33GHz along with my Intel SSD 250, this computer is the most stable it has EVER been before. No problems except for bugs in the actual OS. and those are VERY small issues and me being real picky. I still make regular backups of my complete OS about every 5 to 6 days. I use a 3rd party backup, cause I hate windows backup since the days of XP lol My boot time has gone from around 34 to 36 sec's to around 28 to 30 sec's.
Have no serious problems what-so-ever. I can say now that I have Windows 10 Pro running about as good as my ol favorite OS Windows 7 Ultimate, which for me was rock solid for years! For the folks who want to give up and go back to their old OS, I would tell them to stick it out IF you can, do your research, ask the guys on here for help....their VERY GOOD at this!! Read some of the tutorials on here by Brink, THEIR are some great ones in that forum. Don't be scared to put some hours fixing your problems, have patience and you just might grow to like your Windows 10. Might help to be a little stubborn tooo. and NEVER Give UP!!
    Peace to all, I'm out.....

Performance wise, W10 is pretty much the same for me, as W8.1, but definitely faster than W7.

My 2 new laptops are running Win 10 pretty much flawlessly, my older homebuilt desktop didn't handle it well at all, ended up having to reinstall Win 7 on that one and for now that's what's staying on it.
I have 2 other computers that will stay Win 7 and probably go Linux when 7 is no longer supported those are the 2 Microsoft told me were not authentic copies even though I purchased the OEMs from Microsoft....... I don't trust M$ not to mess em up completely.
