When I was interested in timings I had Kingston A400 SSD alongside with two hard drives and CSM enabled (didn't know the purpose of that back then) with Windows 10 Pro 1809 installed on it. From pressing the power button to lock screen it took about 16s. Now with my current configuration (860 evo + 870 evo + 1TB Toshiba HDD and Optical Drive without CSM and enabled Windows 8/10 Features in BIOS and without fast startup) it takes literally about 9s. On my opinion, too fast.

    Hello @davidhelp,

This may be useful to see your current Bootup Time:

    > Measure the Restart Time
    > Measure the Restart Time

    I hope this helps.

With a SSD your booting times should be around 30 sec or even less.
Many things can impact on booting times like temp folders full, a defective hardware (HDD, USB etc) or even logical (software) issues.

    Let's do the basic
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and ask if you want to schedule to next start = yes
    Restart
Pay attention on the results, specially bad blocks, bad clusters, bad sectors etc

Back to Windows, open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    sfc /scannow

If it finds any corrupted files, fixing or not, reboot and run again

    Then run
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    and
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

My restart time. Start button> Restart> click on Macrium> Now get to Logon screen in a few seconds. I type in my password and the Desktop loads and I wait till my icon text turn from white to black which adds probably 10 seconds. I need to have Iconoid load for that.

So went from 2:25, removed some startup items then to 1:35 and now after deleting the Temp files it is now 1:10

Thanks to everyone for your answer.
#8 Thanks for the temp tip. I had quite a few files....
    Over 4,100 items when deleted.

    1,255 items
    total: 189.75 MB (198,971,073 bytes) 285 files, 970 folders

    Check your %temp% folder.
Click on the Search icon next to the Start button and copy/paste: %temp%
    Or do here: C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Temp

#4 I want Macrium Reflect as is. I click on Windows 10 button right away so no delay.

#7 I used Autoruns> Logon to uncheck: Google and Edge and Snapscan.
The other startup items I want to startup automatically.

#11 CSM. I use legacy BIOS on my 2015 Gigabyte

#12: If you mean the bat file here, e.g.
What is your Windows 10 Restart Time?

    - I can download it without any problem

Can you post a screenshot showing what happens?

Having many temporary files is quite normal. If it impacts your boot time- which a very few have found - and I can't imagine why it does- then it is, of course. Speculatively it's something particular in the temporary files...

You mean that they need to run as Admin?
If you are using a Standard user account then elevation would require an Admin user account's UserName & password.

I thing there is some confusion here. Sure your computer will boot faster with an SSD but that is not the only thing to consider. I have found that computers from OEMs boot faster than ones that ones that are not.

The OEMs use custom motherboards that are not configurable. The fixed settings allows the computer to boot quickly.

Computers that use retail performance motherboards that are very configurable such as voltages and frequencies. When one of these computers boots the motherboard has to test for stability and may have to train when there are CPU or RAM changes. All this takes times so the computer takes much longer to boot than an OEM one.

That doesn't mean the start (or restart) time is not important. For any particular computer a person can tweak things to make it boot faster. A person has to figure out what the best start time is for that computer. Many times that is the start time after a fresh installation of Windows. However, comparing two different computers may not be relevant. For example, a $500 OEM computer may boot must faster than a $3000 custom gaming computer.
