Windows auto update and reboot at startup?

First thing in the morning: I switch on my PC and then continue to do other things (breakfast, etc.)

In the meantime Macrium Reflect creates an image of Windows using a scheduled backup task, daily, at first boot.
This task is set within Macrium, it is not triggered by Windows.

After that, there is still plenty of time to run other tasks.

I am wondering: would it be possible to also:
- have Windows check for updates
- apply them
- and when necessary perform a reboot

PC is not protected by a password.

If so, where to find instructions as to how to set this up?
(obviously it should not conflict with Macrium Reflect)

later: checked out "WAU Manager" from Carifred, but I believe it does not include daily checking and updating at first boot.

Create a task in Task scheduler set to trigger at logon. That task is essentially a shortcut to Settings, Updates that starts it off - zipped copy enclosed - Windows update - action.zip. It was made in 2017 using the instructions in this tutorial.
Create Check for updates shortcut - TenForumsTutorials
You'll need to check your Windows, Updates settings to see how you can tell it always to just roll into rebooting when it's done. I don't use WU and haven't got the foggiest idea about it.

Since I do not know how your Macrium is triggered, I cannot suggest how to avoid any clash between the two jobs.
Perhaps, instead of triggering WU in Task scheduler, you can tell Macrium to run it when it has finished kits system image.

I do not know what you mean.

1 That shortcut should not just take you to Settings, Updates, Windows update
It should both take you there and start WU running.
I've checked the shortcut I enclosed and restored its necessary Run as Admin setting [I don't know how that had become unset]. You can download it again and it should prompt for elevation then run WU.
You'll also need to look in Settings, Updates, Windows update, Advanced options to set Restart this device asap ... [the third item on that page].

2 You need to use Task scheduler to run the shortcut unless Macrium has the ability to trigger a command when it finishes its system image.
- Do not use the trigger At start though. Use At logon. That shortcut must be run elevated and Windows objects to elevated commands being run At start.

3 I suggest you look through Task scheduler to see if the Macrium timer you show is actually setting up a task in there. It might be in the Task scheduler library section or it might be in a subfolder of it called Macrium.

You can experiment with a copy of that task you referred to or you can use Create Check for updates shortcut - TenForumsTutorials to create the same shortcut as I did and then run that from Task scheduler.
You'll also need to refer to Elevated Shortcut without UAC - TenForumsTutorials to avoid an Admin prompt appearing when the shortcut runs [the shortcut only starts WU running if the shortcut is run as Admin].

I don't use Macrium reflect any more but I thought it had a setting to run a chosen task when the system image was completed. Perhaps I'm getting mixed up with some other utility I've experimented with.

So, what I am suggesting is that you tell Macrium to run the shortcut as Admin after it completes the system image.
And the way to do that without having to deal with an Admin prompt is Elevated Shortcut without UAC - TenForumsTutorials
Summary: tell Macrium to run a command that runs an elevated TS task when system imaging completes and that TS task will actually be the shortcut discussed above.
