How to create Recovery partition using Macrium Reflect

So long as you're using USB3 it really doesn't matter all that much. IF you are using imaging routinely, you will already have a backup disk you are using.

In my case, I use a 2Tb HDD. The definition file created when I first made the initial image which defines the backup task is what I then use to create a differential image periodically. Doing that for the O/S, data and installed programs takes perhaps 8-13 mins.

A full image less than 20 mins.

Just an example... depends how much used data space you have on C:

You can save in any drive as long it isn't the drive you're going to do a Win 10 clean install.

looks like a vss problem.

you might be able to fix it with

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

which should tell you if it is repairable

Am okay now. Restored the most recent "restore point." What mess it up was new hardware. One of those things that look like a toaster that you can pop 2.5" and 3.5" drive. The system did an automatic restore point, which I invoked. Imagine. Plugging in that device f***** up the the system. Am just finishing an Image and transferring it to the external HDD.

You have the rescue Macrium drive, don't you?
Boot from the Macrium rescue drive
create an image only from the C: partition
Boot from the Win 10 USB installation drive, delete all partitions, and install Windows.
Boot from the Macrium rescue drive
Clean the C: partition and recover from the Macrium image you created

I'm going to mark this thread Solved. I'm Reflect to do backups. At some point I may proceed. Have recently purchased a a new toy, a SurfacePro 9. I appreciate everyone's help. Thank you.
