@ Joanne: That error is a Runtimebroker one. It has different CLSIDs which is why the PS script does not help you any.

If you're not in a hurry then I can edit the script for you sometime next week or you could proceed manually as per the instructions given by user Vaio7 (I think) on the first page of this thread.
I'm due to the hospital on Monday so don't rely too much on me. Sorry.

EDIT: Disregard the above, the keys are the same. No idea yet why the script does not work for you.

Yes, I have just copied & pasted all that code in Notepad, and searched for those longs key strings. They are the same with those appearing in my Event Viewer. I have cleared Event Viewer again, and run the script (the code) in elevated PowerShell. After rebooting, the DCOM 10016 appeared again.

Anyway, no problem. I'm living with them all the time.

I hope that your health is good!

    Thanks. Much appreciated.
Would you happen to have Fast StartUp enabled ? That sometimes messes up registry changes.

Well....I'm a bit stumped. I completed the manual method like in the past and it works for the most part in eliminating all Event ID 1006 errors, except for one that always loads on startup/reboot. Here's mine:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276} to the user BEST-PC\Best SID (S-1-5-21-3317731104-2820068616-819245499-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
Why it states Unavailable SID is the strange part. While digging through the registry, I also noticed a ghost account named as Unaccount Account with a long SID string. I've never created a new account since the time that freshly installed Win 10 FCU. My best guest is this was somehow changed when I changed my keyboard language from English (Canada) to English (US) (due to various other reasons). Regardless, I granted Local Activation permission to myself, to SYSTEM, and also tested with Administrators group. Before it was loading multiple duplicate 1006 entries, but this last single entry regenerates on each startup. This attacks my OCD

And for the record, I disabled Fast Startup.

I have the same one and script does not work for me either; tried manually but got 2 runtime brokers and one is not editable. My 10016 appears to happen when opening chrome.

: that you mentioned it I notice the same. It more accurately occurs each time Chrome launches, not on Windows startup. For me, the first Runtime Broker is the correct one APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47c8-AFC4-AB702511C276} (the other one has an irrelevant APPID {15c20b67-12e7-4bb6-92bb-7aff07997402})

Found the "fix": grant Local Activation permission to the Users group. It completely eliminates the event errors. This is probably not recommended from a security standpoint, but it's certainly better than the "Everyone" group (which I tested earlier to confirm it works, of course). It seems this time it's a bit worse than earlier W10 builds.
